Week 12 : Extensive reading (2) & Read faster

              The teacher started her class at 08.30 Am. we studied about “Extensive reading” that continued from last week ago and started to learn about “Read faster”. Before we learned, we sent the homework, the teacher talked about the first homework that was “weekly healthy diet”.  And then, she opened the Cambridge dictionary for teaching how to pronounce the words and we tried to speak follow it.

Vocabulary

accurate (adj.) /ˈæk.jə.rət/ = correct, exact, and without any mistakes.

accuracy (n.) /ˈæk.jə.rə.si/ = the fact of being exact or correct.

Oral (adj.) /ˈɔː.rəl/ = spoken and not writing 

Consistent (adj) /kənˈsɪs.tənt/ = always behaving or happening in a similar, especially positive,way.

Reluctant (adj) /rɪˈlʌk.tənt/   = not willing to do something and therefore slow to do it.

Semester (n) /sɪˈmes.tər/ = one of the periods into which a year is divided at a college or university

Compulsory (adj) /kəmˈpʌl.sər.i/ = If something is compulsory, you must do it because of a rule or law.

Make (v) /meɪk = to produce something.

Receive (v) /rɪˈsiːv/ = to get something.

Effective (adj) /ɪˈfek.tɪv/ = successful or achieving the results that you want.

Conduct (v) /kənˈdʌkt/   = to organize and perform a particular activity.

Behind (adv) /bɪˈhaɪnd/ = at the back.

Take (v) /teɪk/ = to move something.

Acquire (v) /əˈkwaɪər/ = to get something.

PhD. = Doctor of Philosophy

B.Ed. = Bachelor of Education

M.B.A. = Master of Business Administration

Then, the teacher assigned us to think and talk with my friend that was about “What are obstacles to faster reading. So, I told my friend that “I think we may be worrying the meaning of difficult words that we don’t know while we read.”

                   she gave us the handout that was about “Read faster”. Before we learned this lesson, she told us to speak with my partner about “How do you improve your speaking, listening, and writing skills” and “How do you read in English”.

             I think this lesson is very hard because it had many unseen vocabulary.I discussed with my friends when I have problems.
